1990
After working in the wet and dry utilities industry for 12 years, B&F Contracting, Inc. was founded by Bruce Balls (Senior Partner) in Phoenix, AZ.
B&F began working in wet and dry utility projects, gaining early success & momentum through a unit price contract with a local telephone company.
B&F seized the opportunity to participate in the fiber optic boom by installing fiber optic rings around major cities and bringing fiber to neighborhoods.
2000
After heavy emphasis on wet utilities, dry utilities, and installation of cell towers, B&F began focusing on the underground utility restoration and sewer bypassing business.
B&F expanded their Cell Tower construction services to other States, completing projects in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Nevada, and California.
B&F was awarded its first Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contract with the City of Phoenix for the Concrete Unlined Sewer Rehabilitation project.
B&F moved into our current corporate offices located at 11011 N. 23rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85029.
Synergies between cell towers, dry utilities, and traffic signals made for a great segway for our Traffic Signals and Street Lights Division
B&F won a $20 million contract to rehabilitate a portion of Las Vegas’s sewer system. This established B&F as a major presence in sewer bypass work. We purchased over $1 million in pumps, pipe, and appurtenances.
2010
Our Tucson office in 1904 W Prince Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705, opened for business providing services in Southern Arizona.
Leveraging years of success with local municipalities, B&F began winning APDM contracts, with their first Job Order Contract (JOC) with Pima County.
B&F completed construction of Thompson Peak Communications Tower for the City of Mesa and surrounding agencies. This is the largest tower on Thompson Peak.
B&F began offering emergency response services after entering into a JOC with the
City of Mesa.
B&F proved to be a turn-key underground utilities contractor by providing water, sewer, storm drain, fiber duct banks, fiber optic, gas lines, traffic signals, street lights, and concrete replacement services to complete major intersection improvements at Dobson Rd. and University Ave. for the City of Mesa.
B&F was awarded the Public Safety Fiber Network Expansion, providing 66,000 LF of fiber optic to the City of Mesa’s fire stations, Falcon Field Terminal and Tower, and the Municipal Court Building.
B&F expanded into a key asset rental business, now known as Pump Solutions.
B&F makes major improvements to workplace safety with in-house Safety Division, employing a full-time B&F Safety Manager.
B&F’s project with Pima County Regional Wastewater Sabino Creek Pump Station and Force Main won multiple awards: APWA State 2019 Environmental Project of the Year and AZ Water Wastewater System Project of the Year.
2020
Lift Station 40 Force Main Barrel 1 Rehabilitation Phase 1 CMAR for the City of Phoenix was awarded AZ Water 2021 Wastewater Project of the Year.
B&F makes further efforts to improve workplace safety by employing additional Safety Professionals that work alongside Superintendents and Foremen.
