The City of Scottsdale utilized its Wet Utility JOC to complete water main improvements at Miller and Osborn. This project required an aggressive schedule to accommodate the start of a federally funded project that involved the installation of a new roundabout at this same intersection. To expedite this project, B&F completed a plan review during the design phase with the design team and eliminated 50% of the new water line, adding new looped connections that provided much-needed redundancy and ability to construct the project without affecting service. This collaboration allowed the utility work to be completed early, without impacting the start of the federal project. Additionally, B&F worked with the City to complete some of the loop tie-ins and new valves prior to spring training in preparation for the utility replacements in multiple smaller windows. B&F eliminated impact to spring training traffic, exceeding the City’s expectations of mitigating disruption during the MLB spring training.
