B&F was awarded this JOC to complete the Public Safety Fiber Network Expansion – Segment 2 project. It was the first of several segments the City of Mesa was completing for the expansion of the existing fiber network. This portion brought new backbone fiber into the Falcon Field Terminal, the Falcon Tower, four Fire Stations, and the Municipal Court Building. Construction consisted of directional drilling over 1 mile of new quad 2” conduit, installation of over 40,000 L.F. of new fiber optic cable, and installation of City of Mesa No. 9 pull boxes, No. 7 pull boxes, and 4x4x4 vaults. Due to the long lead time of the fiber optic cable, it was necessary to purchase the fiber optic cable for this and future segments at this time. Installation required special coordination with ADOT for 2 separate easement special coordination with ADOT for 2 separate easement crossings, coordination with the City of Mesa Fire for access into the fire stations, and proofing of over 23,000 L.F. of existing conduit
