B&F was awarded this JOC to complete the Public Safety Fiber Network Expansion – Segment 6 project. It was the continuation to Segment 2 Expansion. This portion of the fiber expansion project brought new backbone fiber into the Municipal Court Building, Fire Station 202 and Fire Station 210. Segment 6 included directional drilling of over 1 mile of new quad 2” conduit in a more urban location. Construction included installation of over 26,000 L.F. of new fiber optic cable, City of Mesa No. 9 boxes, and proofing of over 10,000 L.F. of existing conduit. Uniquely, it also required the setting of a No.9 pull box over 9-foot deep conduits under existing sidewalk, testing of existing fiber and incorporating it into the new Segment 6 fiber backbone. This project required additional coordination with the City of Mesa Fire Department and the City of Mesa Municipal Court Building.
