Marana Sewer Infrastructure Project

This project was run across Sanders Road just south of Marana Road and combined all the flow to the Marana Wastewater Treatment Plant. B&F constructed two phases for this project to complete a system tie-over and provide additional conveyance options to combat issues with inflow and infiltration (I&I). Our team installed two customized diversion structures, sewer pipe of multiple sizes, and five manholes.

There was unsuitable soil that caused unsafe working conditions. The soil was very loose and was collapsing at a 3:1 slope in certain areas causing undermining of adjacent infrastructure and dry utilities. B&F solved this by minimizing open trenches and installed and compacted them in short lengths to avoid significant time gaps with open trenches, using a TEP pole brace, and utilizing a select fill instead of native soil to avoid issues in the future.

The entire project required a complete flow management plan under construction for each of the three segments. In addition to the pipework, B&F completed a mill and overlay, irrigation flow management and coordination, and Tucson Electric Power (TEP) coordination. B&F was able to collaborate with an adjacent Marana project, complete rehabilitation, and maximize the bypass production, ultimately saving the Town money.
