B&F initiated two GMP’s to expedite this project for Scottsdale due to an adjacent reconstruction project starting in early 2021. The project involved the placement of a new, larger sewer main and the development of a custom structure to divert flow off the line to another adjacent line for additional options. B&F worked with the Owner through design to move the alignment due to multiple utility impacts that would far exceed the cost of completing a standard remove and replace with a larger diameter pipe in the existing alignment under a short-term bypass. B&F also proposed a complete road improvement project coming shortly after the sewer project to eliminate the double T-top section of the pipe. These cost savings went 100% to the Owner.
B&F placed roughly 120 LF of 12-inch sewer line at 10-13 foot depth, 1,260 LF of 15-inch sewer main (down Osborn Road between 70th Street and Drinkwater) at 15-foot depth, and 1,185 LF of 18-inch sewer main (from Drinkwater to Miller on Osborn) at a 15-foot depth. The project also included a 42-inch steel casing Jack and Bore at 286 LF across Scottsdale Road, 14 each sewer lateral tie-ins, 180 LF of 6 to 8-inch waterline conversion from ACP to ductile iron pipe, flatwork, ADA ramps, pedestrian refuge construction, and 12 each Armorock manholes. B&F successfully completed the jack and bore on grade for the new sewer installation and adapted to unforeseen conditions without cost impacts to the owner. B&F also provided turnkey sewer bypass services for tie-in locations. B&F self-performed most of the work on this project, including all pipe installation, bypass and flow management, removals, shutdowns, and testing.
