The project involved the placement of a temporary sewer bypass for Rummel Construction. This was to allow a CIPP lining of the existing 12” sewer. Cleaning and CCTV were required prior to lining operation. The location of the sewer bypass required permits and only certain employees were able to meet the requirements to work on the Airside of Sky Harbor International Airport. B&F’s experience in sewer bypass allowed a safe and efficient way to divert the sewer flows to improve the life of existing infrastructure. Minimal disruption to the stakeholders using the area where improvements were performed.
The project included temporary HDPE pipe, road plates, silent diesel pumps, spill guards, and fittings. Prior to installation a P.E stamp is requested to confirm the ability of system to provide adequate pumping. A redundant system is installed in the case of a mechanical failure. These systems are fused and pressure test to ensure no environmental accidents. B&F worked with the stakeholders through design to allow minimal disruption to air activities & traffic flow. B&F self-performed 90% of the work on the bypass, including all pipe installation, bypass and flow management, removals, shutdowns, and testing. We also coordinated with TCP, micro seal, CIPP lining, & sewer cleaning subcontractors.
