Thomas Rd Transmission Main Rehabilitation

vercame design challenges due to insufficient as-built documents through early and thorough site investigations. B&F self-performed the installation of over 16,300 LF of HDPE slip lining using the close-fit trenchless method. This included over 8,520 LF of 30-inch SDR21 DIPS, and 7,780 LF of 36-inch SDR21 DIPS HDPE piping into existing 36-inch and 45-inch PCCP host pipes. B&F self-performed 100% of the HDPE fusion, host pipe cleaning/proofing, and pipe winching.

The project team also installed 230 LF of 24” ductile iron pipe into the 52nd Street Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and terminated two 30-inch lines into the 64th Street WTP. B&F was 100% responsible for the pipeline installation and final testing. Early engagement between B&F and PCL recognized innovative ideas to compress the schedule and mitigate the overall impact to the community by greatly reducing traffic flow congestions, as well as completing the project on time and on budget.
